Week 3 (very late) - Online Meetings
Ok, so I am really behind on my 23 Things Kansas. I am trying to play catch up so bear with me through the next few posts.
Week 3 - Online Meetings
I went back into the archives and viewed a Wimba session on Searching Iluminar. I logged in through the Kansas Flint Hills and Rhonda Machlan gave the presentation. The session was showing how the public can use the new KLC software. There are a lot of ways for a patron to search for things. It is nice that searches can come up in several different tabs for the patrons. I also learned how our library could customize the layout of our side of Iluminar. I already added the event calendar part to our page.
I think that online meetings will become more important to use. I sat in on the Webinar for the Kansas Tax Forms. I gained a lot of information that I can share with my patrons. This would not have been a meeting that I would have chosen to drive to. Archiving these meetings is helpful because I can go back into them on my own time to view them or see if I missed something.
One thing that I liked in the archived session that I did today was how the session was divided according to slides on the right hand side. I could go back and find the specific slide that I was looking for.
Over the next 10 years we will see more information shared through online meetings. Travel takes time and money and that is something that smaller libraries do not have.
I am anxious to do my next online meeting.
