23 Things Kansas - Week 2 - Online Communities
Facebook all the way. I already had a facebook account so I decided to make a fan page for the library. It has been WAY to much fun. I was amazed at all the people who signed on as fans. As fast as that was happening I knew that I needed to make sure that I updated the page often. Each day I post a definition or a national celebration day. I may post trivia questions. Needless to say it has people coming back to the page.
I can post events in the library on the page also. It is another way to get the word out about our library.
I am enjoying friending other librarians. I have also added other library fan pages to my lists so that I can see what is happening in their libraries. Oh, and three of my board members are fans of my page. They are watching their library. This is good. Look for the Osborne Public Library fan page.
I am happy with the online communities. I also have a twitter account but I don’t use it as much.
Update - The library fan page can be found under the Osborne Public Library. Follow along with the events in our library.
